OUK describes Bishop Ukpong as an Asset to Catholic church

 

THE Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District and the Chief Whip of the Senate, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, has congratulated the first Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia, Rt Rev. Michael Ukpong over his Episcopal ordination.

The Senator who dropped this in a Goodwill message during the Holy Mass held in honour of the new Bishop at the Mater Dei Cathedral, Umuahia, described Monsignor Ukpong as an asset to the church, as his experience in Catholic education, Parish Ministry, Long-standing involvements in the ecumenical movements and diocesan administration, is a conviction his ordination would bring unique competence and experience in the diocese.

According to the Lawmaker, the Bishop’s untiring and dedicated work in the vineyard of God over the years, prepared him for this special day, adding that his appointment as a helper to the sitting Bishop of Umuahia diocese, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, was not an aberration but a well planned move to advance the diocese spiritually.

While praying God to grant the new Bishop the strength and joy needed for this important duty, assured the Auxiliary bishop of his continuous prayers and that of his family, to move into a new phase of his dedication and service to God.
