Otu Promises to Upgrade Comprehensive Health Care at Ikom to General Hospital

It was all jubilation at the healthcare facility in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State, as the Governor of the State Senator Bassey Otu in company of his wife Rev. Eyoanwan Edet Otu also in collaboration with Faith Care Foundation and Henss Foundation administer free medical outreach in the area as well as made promise to upgrade the healthcare to a general hospital.

 

The State Governor made the promise when the Director, primary health care for Ikom Local Government Area Mrs. Anthonia Owan commended Governor Otu’s wife for the intervention on their health care and at the same time requested that the facility be upgraded to a general hospital , which the Governor granted immediately.

The Governor’s wife on the other hand promised to involve the NGOs , Sponsors , Foundations and the State Government in order to achieve the upgrade. She said her mission on the healthcare facility is in accordance with her pet project ‘ Humanity without borders initiative ‘ stressing that her joy is to see smiles on people’s faces in order to fulfill the Bible instruction to Love her neighbor as herself.

 

Many people from the area have already received the free medical treatment, from the analysis made known by Dr. Comfort Oko Special Adviser to the Governor’s wife on Administration, she said 1,043 have been counselled, 93 surgeries, 95 lab/ investigation cases, 73 Dental cases , 285 Eye cases and a total of 1,762 patients attended to in the first 3 days of the service.

In the presence of the people who turned out in mass for the event including the Royal Fathers, the Paramount Ruler of Ikom , His Royal Highness Nton Nsan , Governor Otu thanked the people for voting him into office and assured them that the health facility will immediately going to be a general hospital which he said the Commissioner for Health in the State is going to take up immediately.
