Otti Reaffirms Commitment to Good Governance as Anglican Knights Pay Courtesy Visit
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to delivering on its promises, noting that effective governance significantly eases societal burdens and reduces the pressure often placed on the Church to intercede through prayers.
Governor Otti, represented by his deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, stated this while receiving the Aba Provincial Joint Council of Knights, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), who paid a courtesy visit to him at Government House in Umuahia.
“I thank you for your warm words and your presence today. It is truly encouraging to know that the Church acknowledges the progress we are making,” Governor Otti said.
He noted that the administration is working tirelessly to address youth restiveness and other social challenges inherited from previous administrations, with the aim of restoring Abia to its rightful place as God’s Own State.
Highlighting the importance of shared responsibility in governance, the Governor emphasized that development cannot be achieved by government alone.
“The growth of Abia State is not just the responsibility of the government. It requires the cooperation of all sectors — the Church, businesses, the media, and every citizen,” he stated.
Earlier in his address, Sir Ugochukwu Collins Obi described the visit as both a spiritual and moral gesture of support for the administration of Governor Otti. He praised the Governor’s leadership, likening it to the golden era of the late Dr. Sam Mbakwe.
“We are here to thank God for raising a selfless leader in Dr. Alex Otti. Your courage, transparency, and vision have restored hope and rekindled faith in leadership among our people,” Obi said.
He assured the government of the continuous prayers and partnership of the Anglican Knights in the mission of state transformation.
“We are not just here to identify with your mission; we are here as partners in service to God and humanity,” he added.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Apostle KC Wiper, commended the historic ties between the Anglican Church and the current administration. He emphasized the Church’s involvement and commitment to the success of the government, even prior to the 2023 elections.
The visit climaxed with a solemn prayer session led by the Knights, invoking divine guidance and strength for the leadership of the state.
