Abia state deputy governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, has said that an appraisal of two years in office of Gov. Alex Otti will show a reciprocation of Abia electorates mandate on the governor.
Speaking to journalists on the sideline of the celebration of the two years anniversary of the present administration led by Dr Alex Otti, Engr Emetu said that Gov Otti has delivered in every sectors of the state economy.
He cited the free education, retrofitting of schools, employment of 5000 teachers, building of 20 out of the projected 60 smart schools, and the conducive teaching and learning in our tertiary institutions.
Engr Emetu also noted that the priority attention accorded to health has seen the retrofitting of about 100 health centres, restoration of accreditation of health institutions, and the expected take off of $1.3b medical Village that would be the best and largest in Sub Sahara Africa.
Engr Emetu said that the government has done well in road infrastructure with the reconstruction of more than 200 roads, resulting in achieving the zero potholes policy in the state road infrastructure and the reconstruction of the flagship roads like the Port Harcourt Road.
He restated the resolve of the state government to revitalise the cocoa sector, placing Abia back to its former position as a leading cocoa producing state and disclosed that the revocation of licenses of some cocoa estate management was aimed at achieving this objective.
The deputy governor assured that the state government was committed to maintaining peace in our border communities and stated that by next month, some of the most of the lingering border issues with Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi states would have been resolved.
Engr Emetu solicited the patience and support of Abians to the Otti led administration and stated that the governor inherited bagge of problems of dilapidated infrastructure, disoriented system and huge debt profile pledging an assurance of delivery of democracy dividends to the people
