Following his successful election as President of the Nigeria Guild of Editors, (NGE), the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti has charged Mr. Eze Anaba to use his new office to work towards the realization of the dreams of a progressive and prosperous Abia.
Recall that Anaba, an Editor of the Vanguard Media Limited, recently polled 250 votes at the 2023 Biennial Convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors held in Owerri, Imo State to defeat his only opponent, Bolaji Adebiyi formerly of Thisday Newspapers, who polled 81 votes
Gov Otti in a Press Statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Ukoh, while congratulating the Abia state born indigene, noted that Anaba’s election to lead the Guild for the next two years is an eloquent testimony to his leadership qualities and a demonstration of confidence reposed on him by his colleagues in the pen profession.
“This is evident in the overwhelming number of votes that won you the victory”,Otti said.
The Governor, also congratulated the entire Guild, especially, the Organizing Committee of the convention, “for putting up a rancour-free event, thereby holding a free, fair and peaceful election that has now brought about the new leadership”.
“The people of Abia State are indeed glad to have you as one of their illustrious sons and hope that you will use your new office to work towards the realization of their dream of a progressive and prosperous Abia”.
Otti prayed prayed that the new NGE ‘s tenure would not only see to the continued strengthening of the Guild but would promote the welfare, well-being and rights of journalists in Nigeria as well as ensure that practitioners continue to imbibe the ethics of the noble profession of journalism.
Anaba who before his election was the Social and Publicity Secretary of NGE, holds a Master’s degree in Communication from Leicester University, UK.
He was at various times,the Deputy Editor, Saturday Editor, Senior Deputy News Editor, and the Law and Human Rights Editor.
Anaba brings to the table a robust media management experience and huge contacts in the public and private sectors.
