A two time Abia Governorship candidate under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr Alex Otti, has declared interest to run for the governorship ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC),come 2023, saying he will revamp the economy of Abia, through developmental policies and programmes,if elected.
Dr Alex Otti in his official declaration in Umuahia, said he is ready to bring the desired change in Abia,as he would address the unemployment situation in the state which is over 50%, improve the quality of education, health care and other sectors
The Governorship aspirant who decried the state of Abia economic, blamed it on the crop of leaders that have been on the saddle of leadership in the state, maintaining that his vision is to change the narrative of Abia.
He revealed that his desire to change the political trajectory of the state,spurred his decision to join politics in 2013.
Otti, added that even though his efforts to take over the leadership of the state had been faulted countlessly, he is not deterred by the challenges of his past efforts to transform the state.
He said, “We have resolved to bring change to Abia State by pursuing a clear economic polices that will bring prosperity to Abians.
“We plan to reduce the unemployment rate of the state which is currently 53% above the 31% national average, by restoring moribund industries in the state and building new ones.
“Will provide quality education with emphasis on youth empowerment for a productive economy.
“Pursue infrastructural development and make Abia one of the cleanest states in Nigeria.
In their goodwill messages, the Head of Public Complaints Commission in Abia State,Maduekwe Ukaegbu, Hon Nnanna Uzor Kalu,Hon Nnanna Ngwu,Dr Nwachinemere,Prof Uche Eme Uche,raised support for the renowned banker,who they said is eminently qualified to govern Abia,as he is ready to bring his wealth of experiences to change the narrative of the state
Earlier, the Abia APC Chairman, Hon Acho Obioma, disclosed his party’s readiness to slug it out with the opposition PDP come 2023.
