The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army Enugu, Major General Abubakar Maikobi,has assured Abia State residents that the Operation Python Dance 3 which has commenced in the South East zone is for internal security operation and not targeted at anybody or group.
Major Maikobi who gave the assurance when when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu at Government House Umuahia,said the Nigeria Army has flagged off the operation python dance 3 in the South East Zone disclosing that the exercise is to rid the zone of criminals and all forms of criminality.
According to the GOC 82 Division, “the Nigerian Army will do it’s best not to compromise proffesionalism” adding that “the army will offer greater services and dedication in line with the constitutional responsibilities.
Major Maikobi stated that the exercise will be in the same pattern with the previous operations python dance 1 & 2 and thanked the governor for his support to the Nigerian Army.
Responding, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu pledged the commitment and support of the Abia State Government to the programmes and projects of the Nigeria Army and appreciated them for the robust security architecture which has given rise to peace and security enjoyed in the state.
Governor Ikpeazu said: “Operation Python Dance 3 is highly welcome especially having explained the reasons behind that exercise. Indeed whatever the Nigerian military wants to do to continue to maintain the unity of this country is highly welcome”.
