The member representing the South East on the Board of the North East Development Commission(NEDC) and the Chairman committee on Security, Climate Change and Special Intervention on the Board, Hon Sam Onuigbo, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for his goodwill to the people of Abia and the South-East region, stressing that a President who has proven he has the best interest of Ndigbo, should be encouraged to do more.
Onuigbo spoke on the sideline of the Renewed Hope Police Agenda: Citizens Town Hall Engagement on Strengthening Community Policing in Nigeria with the theme; Community Policing: Building A Safer Nigeria Together held at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Abia State.
Onuigbo who commended Tinubu for signing the South-East Development Commission (SEDC) bill into law described the SEDC as a “Gift to the South-East”, that would help repair damages caused by the Civil War and empower the people through education.
The former Rep Member for Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency, also noted the support given by the President for an Igbo Son to emerge as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, in the person of Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu, stressing that the later’s recent interview, where-in he called for the President to be recognized for all that his administration has done for Abia and the South East in general, shouldn’t be misconstrued.
He acknowledged efforts by previous leaders in the region, but argued that none had surpassed Tinubu’s achievements, who also appointed an Igbo Son a Service Chief, as he praised Tinubu for his efforts in nation-building, urging the people to continue to recognize and encourage his efforts.
The former Federal Lawmaker also commended the Governor of Abia state, Dr Alex Otti for working hard to massively develop Abia within one year of his administration, in synergy with other government officials across Party lines both at national and state levels including the Deputy Speaker House of Reps, in the overall good of the state.
