Omerekpe Storms PDP Secretariat With Over 50,000 Supporters, Declares For Governorship

It was a beehive of activities today at the State Secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), as a renowned philanthropist cum Business mogul, Chief Ncheta Omerekpe (Offor Ndi Igbo), stormed the party office at Finbarrs road,Umuahia, in company of over 50,000 supporters, as he declares interest to run for Abia governorship in the forth coming gubernatorial election.

Chief Ncheta Omerekpe, who took off from his country home in Umuakwu Nsulu in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, had supporters across the 17 LGAs in Abia State, drumming support for Chief Ncheta Omerekpe.

Omerekpe had last week picked his expression of interest and nomination forms at the PDP Secretariat, Abuja.

Chief Omerekpe, while addressing the mammoth crowd at the Umuahia Township Stadium, stated that it is imperative for Abians to pick someone who will enhance their narrative and better their lots for the next four years, adding that the Abia governorship race concerns Abians in general.

He pledged to serve Abians with all his heart if given the mandate, reminding them that if they want change, he is poised to effect the needed change as Abia is in dire need of change and move away from imposition of candidates which has become a norm in the State just as he stressed that time has come to reject imposition of candidate on Abians.

The Governorship aspirant further commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for steering the ship of Abia for seven years running, revealing that he has so much respect and love for the Governor, while urging him as the father of the Party, to do the right thing by avoiding imposition of candidates on Abians, as they have the ample right to elect who they want.

In his words, “Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is a man I love so much because he has steered the ship of Abia for 7 years running. But he should do the right thing, by allowing Abians decide their fate.

” As the father of the party, he should be neutral, and let the generality of Abians speak through their PVCs who they want to be their Governor come 2023.”

He, however, advised delegates to avoid being used during party primaries, noting that their conscience should guide them in making their choices.

Meanwhile, the member representing Isiala Ngwa North in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, who had also picked his nomination and expression of interest form to represent Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency. said Chief Omerekpe has imparted the lives of the people positively and will do well if he becomes the Governor of Abia state.

According to Hon.Onwusibe the philanthropist and business mogul, has radically transformed Isialangwa North, with the construction of over 20 roads in the area, the building of schools, skills acquisition centres, hospitals, stressing that Omerekpe has all it takes to occupy the number one seat.

The Lawmaker further charged delegates not to sell their conscience but vote according to their conscience, as that is key to electing a good man like Chief Omerekpe as the party’s flag bearer come 2023.

Responding, the PDP State Chairman, Rt, Hon. Alwell Asiforo, charged aspirants to remain civil,modest in their conduct,as nobody can be bigger than the party.

He further appreciated Omerekpe for his support to the party, describing him as a party man,while assuring all aspirants a level playing ground.
