The Head, Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, Abia State, Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, has been honoured with the Youth Ambassador Award by Rotary Club International.
Dr. Chukwu was conferred with the award today during the installation ceremony of the 45th President of the Rotary Club of Umuahia, Rotarian Ifeoma Kelenna-Obonna, held amid pomp and pageantry in Umuahia, Abia State.
According to the Rotary Club, the award celebrates Dr. Chukwu’s remarkable contributions to human capacity development, particularly his empowerment programmes for young people and grassroots community service initiatives.
In his acceptance speech, the Isuochi-born technocrat and founder of Oluebube Chukwu Foundation expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for the honour, pledging to sustain his commitment to humanitarian service and rural development.
Dr. Chukwu also urged young people to support the administration of Governor Alex Otti, describing the governor as “a youth-friendly leader dedicated to transforming Abia State.”
Earlier in her valedictory speech, Outgone Club President, Rotarian Temitope Nnaomah expressed appreciation to members for their cooperation during her tenure, which saw the execution of 32 impactful projects across education, healthcare, and communal hygiene.
Meanwhile, the new President, Rtn Ifeoma Kelenna-Obonna, in her inaugural address, pledged to uphold the ideals of Rotary International and unveiled plans to embark on major capital projects such as borehole installations in rural communities and construction of public toilet facilities in markets.
The outgone, President; Nnaomah with other members like; Rtn Samclef, Rtn Grace Okaro, and Rtn Miracle Chukwuonye, received special commendations for being outstanding.
The event also featured fundraising activities in support of the club’s humanitarian projects, award presentations to philanthropists and community leaders, and a heartfelt farewell gesture to the outgone president, who was presented with a framed portrait as a parting gift.
The event was graced by notable personalities, including the Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu; Signature Bank Branch Manager Umuahia, Mr. Ekene Ochiabuto; and several distinguished Rotarians.
