As part of its humanitarian services and social responsibility to the people of Umunneochi, the Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) has donated 3,840 educational items and hygiene supplies to rural schools across the Local Government Area in Abia State.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise, the President and founder of OACF, Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, disclosed that the gesture was borne out of love for his people and education, serving as a way to reach out to the less privileged in society.
Chukwu stated that this back-to-school outreach is one of the many ways OACF is making a tangible impact on the lives of young people, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to succeed academically.
“The whole idea is to truly support a child’s education. We must also empower their families,” he said.
“That is why we make it a priority to offer startup capital to the mothers of our scholarship recipients, ensuring they have the means to cater to their families while their children pursue their academic dreams,” Chukwu added.
Dr. Chukwu, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Due Process and Public Procurement Bureau, was represented by the Head of Communications, Stacy Okoye. She emphasized that the foundation decided to reach out to schools because education is paramount in society, adding that when a child or student is empowered with the necessary materials for studies, they are positioned to acquire knowledge.
“This effort was not only aimed at easing financial burdens on students’ families but also at promoting a better learning environment for the children,” she said.
The items distributed included exercise books, pencils, pens, toiletries, and other valuable hygiene supplies, which were shared among three schools in Umunneochi Local Government: Mbala Community Secondary School, Leru Secondary School, and Ezingodo Community Primary School.
Speaking with a National Ambassador correspondent, representatives from the visited communities—Elder S. O. Oguama, Elder Arc. Victor P. Ogbukwe, and Hon. Obesiye—lauded Dr. Chukwu and the members of the foundation for their timely and necessary visit.
