Okoko Item Community Honours ABSU Registrar, Dr Acho Elendu

The Registrar, Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) Dr. Acho Elendu has been honoured with an outstanding Achievement Award by the Okoko Item Progressive Union in recognition of his selfless service to humanity and contribution to community development.

Speaking at the ceremony held at Item Bende LGA, the Chairman on the occasion, Pastor Onyekwere Ogba and the Anchor and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief James Igwe described Dr Acho Elendu as an invaluable asset to Okoko Item and a glowing light to his generation who has made them proud especially in the field of academics.

ABSU’s Registrar, Dr. Acho Elendu (Middle), addressing his community shortly after receiving an award in Item community, Abia State recently.

They congratulated Dr Elendu on his well deserved honour and urged him not to relent in contributing to the development of Okoko Item Community.

Speaking after receiving the award alongside his wife Mrs Nkechi Elendu, the Registrar Abia State University Uturu Dr. Elendu described Okoko Item as a land blessed with great human resources and noted that the community will continue to grow from strength to strength.

Dr Elendu promised to remain good ambassador of Okoko Item pointing out that the award will spur him to do more for the community and dedicated the award to his late father Chief E.O.Elendu who made great impact to his community as a former retired permanent. secretary in the old IMO state.

Highpoints of the ceremony were the presentation of awards to other deserving sons and daughters of Okoko Item including Abia born Rear Admiral Emeruwa Ijioma and the display of local delicacies.
