Oko Chukwu states reasons why Abia Govt introduced Dusk to Dawn Curfew

 

 

Abia state government says the 6pm to 6am curfew was introduced in line with the lockdown policy to check the spread of Covid 19 pandemic ravaging the society.

The deputy governor of Abia state, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu made the explanation while featuring on Vision Africa Radio live interactive program on corona virus update.

Sir Oko Chukwu said government is not happy with  the on going lockdown border closure and imposition of curfew  because they know what it means to keep hard working people at home, but insisted that, they must take necessary measures to protect Abians from Corona virus currently on rampage as only the living and healthy can go out to do business and other things.

The deputy governor restated that the Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu led administration will not  accept the unwarranted killings of any citizen or resident of the state and warned that the government will not tolerate killings of unarmed civilians and called for an end to it forthwith

He therefore told the public to accept the fact that the virus is real and should observe all the necessary protocols as stipulated by medical experts, which include regular hand washing under running water, sanitize their hands, observe social distancing and wear face mask.

According to him, the state government will continue to roll out palliatives to vulnerable and poor widows to ameliorate the rate of hunger during the lockdown.

He further disclosed that the state has remained proactive by constituting a post COVID 19 economic and technical committees to put things right, promising that the contact tracing will assist and ascertain those who have contacts with the two index cases in Abia.

Sir Oko Chukwu disclosed that the two index cases who are at the isolation centre are responding to treatment.

 

Meanwhile, the President of Vision African Radio, Bishop. Sunday Onuoha took Sir Oko Chukwu around the  Transmission premises and distribution of face masks to the staff and management of the Vision African Radio Station.
