Oko Chukwu decries APC politics of bitterness in Abia state

The All Progressive Congress (APC) took their politics of bitterness to the lowest ebb as they destroyed the campaign posters, billboards and banners of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in Nkporo community, Ohafia local government.

The action has elicited wide spread condemnation and
questioned the peace deal the party pledged her commitment to.

Speaking after visiting some of the places the campaign posters, Billboards and banners were torn, the Deputy governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu deplored in strong terms the unwarranted and provoking destruction of billboards belonging to the PDP by APC members and described it as the height of political thuggery and desperation.

Sir Oko Chukwu said that the action of rival political parties in destroying bill boards was not the best for the survival of democracy and portend danger for the forthcoming election in the country.

Represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Obasi Onwuka described as disheartening what happened in Nkporo stating that politics should not be a do or die affair but cautioned politicians to conduct their campaigns and sensitization devoid of bitterness.

Sir Oko Chukwu deplored the action of those behind the act of violation of the peace accord signed by the various political parties to play the game according to the rule and not to embark on the act of provocation of pulling down of rival party’s bilboards, posters and banners.

He described the PDP as peace loving and called on the security agencies to remain impartial and uncompromised during this electioneering period as well cautioned politicians and youths not to allow themselves to be used as agents of destruction or cause mayhem in forthcoming elections.

In their seperate speeches, some of the residents of Nkporo area including Mr Ogbonnaya Chukwu Kalu and a youth from Amurie Nkporo, Mr Bassy Arua, Hon Otuwe Kalu Orji from Okwoko Nkporo, Comrade Kalu Okibe Kalu from Obuofia Nkporo, Mr Frank Agwu Agu from Elughu Nkporo, Mr Chinalu Abraham and Rev Moses NkumaFrom Etitiama Nkporo alledged that supporters and agents of All Progressives Congress( APC) after their rally in Nkporo destroyed and dismantled every banners and billboards belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the instruction of their leaders.
Some of the areas visited included Etitiama, Obuoha, Okwoko, Ndi Nku, Elughu, Ndi Agbo and Agbaja vilages, all in Nkporoland where PDP billboards, banners and flex were pulled down and destroyed by members of the opposition party APC in the state.
