Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, has reviewed its final preparations for the 2025 convocation during an Academic Board meeting held on Monday. The meeting, led by the Rector, Engr. Dr. Christopher Okoro, brought together key officers and deans to check how ready the school is for the event.
Dr. Okoro restated the school’s commitment to release students’ results on time and issue certificates without delay. He said preparations were going well and asked each dean to give an update on their progress. He also announced that students who have paid all their fees can start clearance from Tuesday. Both manual and online clearance will continue until noon on December 4, while the convocation ceremony will be held on December 5.
Convocation activities will begin on December 3 with a press briefing and a tour of the school’s facilities to showcase recent achievements. On December 4, the convocation lecture will be delivered by Ide John Udeagbala, Chairman of the Greater Abia and Development Authority (GADA). The lecture topic is: “Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies for Trade and Sustainable Industrial Development in Nigeria.”
Dr. Okoro also announced that the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, will commission several new projects at the Osisioma campus. These projects include a 5,000-bed hostel for male and female students and a twin lecture hall, among others.
He added that the late Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, after whom the polytechnic was renamed, will be honoured posthumously during the convocation. His wife will receive the award on his behalf.
