The Abia State Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of civil servants in the state.
Mr. Ojeikere made this known during the presentation of a cheque to Mrs. Confidence David, a staff of the Abia State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSSAA), to assist in meeting her medical needs.
The HOS Represented by the Director of Information, Mrs. Adaeze Ralph Igbokwe, explained that the financial assistance initiative was designed to provide relief to workers facing severe health challenges, as a show of the government’s solidarity with them in difficult times.
He noted that Mrs. David is among several beneficiaries of the scheme, which has been executed in two phases, mainly, during the 2025 Workers’ Day celebration, and to commemorate the two-year anniversary of the present administration.
Mr. Ojeikere described the programme as a humanitarian effort by the Office of the Head of Service to complement the state government’s drive to improve the overall well-being of the workforce.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the beneficiary, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ABSSAA, Mrs. Victoria Dibumma Onwubiko, expressed gratitude to the government for its show of compassion. She described the gesture as laudable and unprecedented, noting that it would boost workers’ morale and inspire greater productivity and dedication.
