Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been honoured as South-South Governor of the Year at the maiden edition of the Progressive Digital Media Summit and Awards, held Saturday at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The award, which celebrates excellence in governance, digital inclusion, and visionary leadership across Nigeria’s South-South region, recognised Governor Oborevwori’s outstanding strides in infrastructure development, human capital growth, and governance transparency since assuming office on May 29, 2023.
According to the organisers, the Governor’s effective implementation of the M.O.R.E. Agenda—Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security—set him apart from his peers.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor, Hon. Lovette Idisi, former Member of the House of Representatives and Executive Assistant on FCT Abuja Liaison, thanked the organisers, describing the recognition as a “testament to Governor Oborevwori’s relentless pursuit of good governance and inclusive growth.”
“This award validates the Governor’s dedication to improving lives through consistent investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and youth empowerment,” Idisi stated.
The Summit featured keynote speeches and panel discussions on digital innovation in governance, media accountability, and citizen engagement. It also echoed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s charge to journalists and media users: “Verify before you amplify,” emphasizing responsible journalism in the digital age.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Dada Olusegun, Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, described the event as a morale booster for progressives nationwide, reinforcing unity and strategic communication in the digital era.
Governor Oborevwori’s latest accolade adds to a growing list of commendations from the media, professional bodies, and civil society organisations, reflecting rising public approval of his administration’s performance across Delta State.
