Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reiterated the strategic role of the South-South region in Nigeria’s development, advocating for a more robust and mutually beneficial partnership with the Federal Government.
Speaking during the 2025 Passover Conference and dedication of the children of Apostle Charles Osazuwa, Founder of Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International, in Benin City, Edo State, the Governor emphasized the region’s immense contributions to national growth and its central position in driving the country’s economic and social stability.

Oborevwori described the South-South as a “critical pillar” of the nation’s progress, citing its wealth in oil and gas, abundant agricultural resources, and a dynamic population. He called for greater federal collaboration to bridge the development gap and ensure the region reaps full benefits from its natural endowments.
He also underscored the need for unity among the South-South states in engaging the Federal Government on vital issues such as infrastructure, environmental protection, and economic diversification.
“A united South-South voice will not only fast-track development but also strengthen security and promote inclusive growth across our region”, the Governor said.

On the spiritual significance of the event, which also included the dedication of Apostle Osazuwa’s triplets, Oborevwori noted the importance of gratitude and reflection.
“Whenever God does something, it is only right that we appreciate Him. Today, we have not only witnessed the dedication, but we have also received a powerful message, one that has truly blessed us. I took notes myself because there was so much to take home”, he added.
He spoke warmly about the long-standing cultural and historical ties between Delta, Edo, and Bayelsa states, stressing that their unity has been evident not only in shared heritage but also in joint achievements.

“At the National Youth Games, Delta came second and Edo came third. In Ogun State, Delta took first while Bayelsa came second. Whenever one of us shines, we all shine. That is the strength of our brotherhood”, he remarked.
The Governor also commended Apostle Osazuwa and his ministry for their unwavering commitment to the gospel, praying for continued growth and positive impact.
In separate remarks, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo represented by his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, affirmed the state’s support for Christian values, noting that the administration would continue to promote Christianity through good governance.
Similarly, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, represented by his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, congratulated Apostle Osazuwa on the dedication of his triplets and described him as a “genuine man of God who preaches with ease and conviction”.
In his message, Apostle Osazuwa appealed to Governors Okpebholo and Oborevwori to use their platforms to push the Federal Government for urgent rehabilitation of the neglected Benin–Sapele Road, citing the hardship it continues to cause motorists.
Earlier in his sermon titled “Understanding the Power of Effective Prayer,” Apostle Osazuwa emphasized the importance of prayer as a spiritual tool for believers, saying it allows them to engage in warfare, overcome afflictions, and effect real change.
He described prayer as “a two-way communication between man and God”, and highlighted its mystery and transformative power.
The event drew several dignitaries, including immediate past Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu; as well as worshippers and well-wishers who joined in the thanksgiving celebration with the Osazuwa family.
