Obio/Akpor LGA Welcomes New State Commissioner of Police

The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo, warmly received the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala in, at the Council Secretariat.

CP Mustapha Bala’s visit followed recent political developments across Rivers State. During the meeting, he made it clear that under his leadership, the police force would remain neutral amid the political climate in the state. He emphasized the need for peace in the area and called on citizens to stay calm. Bala also reassured Ambassador Ihunwo of the police’s commitment to maintaining security in the local government.

In response, Ambassador Ihunwo expressed his gratitude for the visit and pledged that the council would work closely with the police to ensure law and order continue to prevail in Obio/Akpor. The encounter sets the tone for a collaborative effort to promote peace and security across the local government.

An elder statesman in the Obio/Akpor community, Oko Jaja, expressed joy in an interview with our reporter as Mustapha Bala assumed duty as the new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, replacing Olatunji Disu, who has been reassigned to the Federal Capital City Command. He stated that he believes the new CP will combat corruption, cultism, youth violence, and oil theft. Elder Jaja, however, advised the new CP to adopt a proactive and strategic approach to maintain law and order and to use his office to help restore peace in local government areas experiencing violence and arson.
