Obicare Charity Foundation Uplifts Ohafia Widows and Tackles Erosion in Asaga Community

The Obicare Charity Foundation, on Monday, 23rd December 2024, celebrated widows from the 26 villages in Ohafia. The event took place at the Ugwu Abba residence of the host and founder, Elder Engr. Obinna Agwu Odum.

During the occasion, praise and worship were observed by the widows, who expressed joy and prayed for the founder of the foundation.

In a warm welcome note, Elder Odum thanked the widows for honoring the invitation and assured them of continued support. He said the foundation is aimed at improving the lives of the vulnerable in Ohafia, Abia State, and beyond. He hinted that the foundation has distributed books and other educational materials to schools in Ohafia, Nkporo, and Abiriba, all in Ohafia LGA.

During the occasion, Rev. Dr. Sam Kalu prayed and shared the word of God, stating that the need for such a foundation is to improve the lives of the needy. He emphasized that the gifts are not because the widows are hungry but to add to what they already possess. Rev. Kalu offered prayers for the founder of the foundation and said his appointment by the State Government as the Director General, Greater Ohafia Development Authority, was just a stepping stone for Elder Odum.

In his love for community development, the founder of Obicare Charity Foundation, Elder Engr. Obinna Agwu Odum, a philanthropist per excellence, in his usual magnanimity took it upon himself to rescue the dilapidated, erosion-prone section of Ozube Road in the Asaga Community of Ohafia in Ohafia LGA. The foundation constructed and delivered a drainage system and the road leading to the community’s public toilet.

The drainage that demarcates Ndi Uka and Ndi Ukpai/Ndi Awa Odo compounds had been a death trap and a nightmare to the residents of the area. Both the young and the elderly were subjected to difficulties in accessing the road, with many falling by the sides. It is worth noting that the construction of the drainage and the road will make for the easy flow of water and provide good connecting road access to the community center.

Speaking during the commissioning, Elder Odum promised to bring more development to the community and called for peace and unity among the people.
