OACF Rallies 220 Volunteers for Statewide Sanitation Drive in Abia

Oluebube A. Chukwu Foundation (OACF) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining its monthly sanitation programme as part of its broader mission to promote environmental sustainability, public health, and community development across Abia State.

The Founder of the Foundation, Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, stated this during the February 2026 sanitation exercise, disclosing that the organisation successfully carried out the exercise across five local government areas in the state, with a total of 220 volunteers participating in the environmental cleanup campaign.

Represented by the Programme Manager, Miss Helen Mannic, the Founder explained that the coordinated exercise, held simultaneously in Isuikwuato, Umunneochi, Ohafia, Arochukwu, and Bende LGAs, forms part of the Foundation’s sustained grassroots efforts to promote environmental cleanliness and community health.

Giving reports from the LGAs, he noted that in Isuikwuato LGA, the sanitation exercise took place at Ngeloyiri Junction in Ovim, Ezere/Imenyi Ward 2. The OACF LGA Manager, Mr Anyachi Ndubuisi, led a team of 42 volunteers drawn from various communities within the ward.

Residents and business owners at the junction commended the initiative. Among those who expressed appreciation were Mr Ikokwu, a generator repairer operating at the junction; Hon. Okechukwu Okorie; and several commercial motorcycle operators. They particularly lauded Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu for sponsoring the exercise and rekindling the spirit of environmental responsibility in the area. Community members also pledged continued support for the initiative.

In Umunneochi LGA, 58 participants turned out for the sanitation exercise at Afor Market Square, Akawa, under the supervision of the LGA Manager, Mr Uwey Onyemaechi. The team cleared waste and ensured proper disposal around the busy market square to enhance hygiene and public safety.

In Ohafia LGA, 56 volunteers participated in the exercise in Ebem Ohafia Ward. The Ward Coordinator, Mr Chukwuma Uguru, supervised activities at the Eziukwu toilet facility and square, as well as the Ekeluogo toilet facility. The exercise focused on cleaning public sanitation facilities and adjoining areas to improve environmental health standards.

The exercise also extended to Amakofia Ututu Ward in Arochukwu LGA, where 27 persons took part under the coordination of Mr Joseph Amah. Participants carried out thorough cleaning of designated public areas within the ward.

In Bende LGA, 37 volunteers participated in the sanitation exercise at Agbozu in Uzuakoli Ward. The activity was led by the LGA Manager, Mr Godswill Evans, as participants cleared refuse and restored cleanliness to the community.

A total of 220 individuals participated in the February 2026 sanitation exercise across the five LGAs, demonstrating growing grassroots support for the OACF initiative.
