NYCN honours Chief Nduwuisi with 2020 Platimiun Award of Excellence

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has honoured Chief Ugochukwu John Nduwuisi with the Platimiun Award of Excellence.

This, the apex youth body said, is in recognition of his giant strides in Human Capacity Development in Ndoki land, Ukwa-East Local Government Area (LGA), Abia state and beyond.

Speaking at the event held recently at the Council Headquarters, Akwete, Ukwa-East, Abia state, the chairman, NYCN, Ukwa-East chapter, Comrade Emmanuel C. Akparanta described the founder and former president Ohanaeze Ndigbo Spanish chapter, as a worthy son of Ndoki land, having identified with the youths, women and most vulnerable in the areas of empowerments, scholarships, among other Human Capital Development endeavours in our society and deserved the honour.

Akparanta further maintained that Chief Nduwuisi has distinguished himself among other Ndoki sons and women through his genuine philanthropic gestures within and outside Ndoki land.

“We are proud of you. If we have more of you in Ndoki land, our clan would enjoy speedy and comprehensive developments”, he added.

Responding, Chief Nduwuisi, who is also contesting for Ukwa-East LGA Chairmanship seat under All Progressive Congress (APC), thanked the youth body for finding him worthy for such a great honour, adding that he was indeed humbled. He promised to continue to render more selfless services to his people.

He commended youths of Ukwa-East LGA for being responsible and with peaceful disposition in the wake of #EndSARS protest, noting that there was no destruction of any public infrastructure Ukwa-East as witnessed in other climes across the state and the entire nation.

He charged youths to shun violence, acquire marketable skills, carry themselves with dignity among others, adding that their future is bright if they remain focused.

The APC chieftain who lamented that youths of Ukwa-East have not been carried along by either the elected or the appointees of government in the area, promised youths-inclusiveness if elected in December 2020 LG polls.

He decried the lack of electricity in Ukwa-East LGA for some decades now as a major factor impeding socio-economic development of Ndoki land, adding that there can never be any meaningful development without power (electricity).

In his words: “The electric poles and wires littered along our roads have become mere Ivory tower decorations. We must do the needful now to save our people from more economic calamities.”

Nduwuisi promised to urgently collaborate with relevant stakeholders to restore Ukwa-East back to the national grid if elected the chairman of the council, insisting that the development of any society starts with electricity.

The APC aspirant, also expressed confidence in Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) led by Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa to conduct free, fair and credible LG elections adding that anything less than credible polls would be resisted and unacceptable by the electorates.

Meanwhile, the Transitional Committee (TC), Chairman of Ukwa-East LGA, Chief Mrs. Stella Igbokwe, has disclosed that Chief Nduwuisi’s award was well-deserved, describing the awardee as a forthright man and a proud son of Ukwa-East that has shown uncompromisingly love to Ndoki people that has been known to her for many years.

Highlight of the event is the gifting of 200 empowerment forms to NYCN, Ukwa-East chapter, by Chief Nduwuisi.

Other dignatories at the events include; National President, Nigeria National Association of the Deaf (NNAD), Hon. Chidi Topaz Olujie, Special Adviser to Imo State Governor on Diaspora Matter, Hon. CLLR Celia Osakwe-Hibbert, Elder Eziuche Olujie, NYCN executives, top government functionaries among others.
