Abia farmer,Chief Uzoma Nwaogwugwu, yesterday, in Abuja defeated other contestants to become the first President of the National Apex of Nigerian Farmers Cooperative Societies Ltd, NANFACOS, dedicating his victory to the governor of the state,Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.
Nwogwugwu has been complimenting the vision of the state Governor in driving Agriculture and making it a mainstay of the state’s economy and has been the president of Apex of Farmers Cooperative Societies Ltd in Abia.
Recall that the Federal government in its bid to create a reformation in Agriculture,had established an umbrella body for all farmers cooperative societies in Nigeria, which three (3) states primarily were shortlisted to go for the national seat, namely Abia, Niger and Kwara states.
Announcing the results, the returning officer, Mallam lbrahim Dankuwa of Kano state said that Chief Uzoma Nwaogwugwu polled 18 states vote with FCT, Abuja to defeat Mallam Mohammed Kuyizhi of Niger State, who won 13 states and Alhaja Zururat Zubir of kwara state, who got 5 states.
