Nwogu Tasks Newly Onboarded Independent Monitors Of NSIP On Success Of Programme In Abia

The Abia State Focal Person, Social Investment Programme, Mr Chinenye Nwogu has informed that the state government will continue to partner the Federal Government at ensuring that the poor and vulnerable ones in the society are given adequate support.

To this end, he charged the newly onboarded Independent Monitors of the Programme to ensure that the primary objectives of the National Social Investment Programmes NSIP are achieved in the state.

Speaking at the Social Investment Programme Office, Government House Umuahia during the onboarding exercise of the stream 2 Independent Monitors for NSIP, organized by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Nwogu noted that Abia is the Focal state for NSIP because of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu’s giant strides and efforts at prioritizing the welfare and well-being of Abians.

In her address, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq represented by Mrs Chinenye Nwabugwu disclosed that the programme was created in 2016 to tackle hunger and poverty across the nation, pointing out that the suite of programmes under the SIP focuses on ensuring a more equitable distribution of resources to vulnerable populations including children, vulnerable youths and women.

In their separate speeches, some of the newly onboarded Stream 2 Independent Monitors in the state, Mr Chinagozim Enoch, Mrs Chidinma Odigbo and Mr Gaius Nnadi while thanking the NSIP for finding them worthy to serve, also promised not to betray the confidence reposed in them.

The event which attracted the presence of the Director General, Abia Mass Mobilization Agency, Chief Paddy Anyatonwu also featured question and answer sessions, presentation of engagement letters and working tools to the Independent Monitors by the State Focal Person.
