It was a moment of glitz and glamour as a U.S based medical doctor, Chief Arthur Nwaubani and his beautiful wife, Dr Uzoma Nwaubani, were conferred with the titles of ‘Odum and Ugwudiya’ of Afarata, having served the community meritoriously for over two decades.
The event which took place at the Methodist Church field, Umuana Mbom in Afarata Ibeku, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, during the Coronation ceremony of Eze Felix Osquared Onwukwe, had the presence of notable sons and daughters of Mbom community, political bigwigs from various parties, including the former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia Central senatorial district, Chief Theodore Orji, the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, captain of industries, Traditional Rulers, Religious leaders among others.
Speaking with Newsmen shortly after being conferred the ‘Odum and Ugwudiya’ titles, Chief Arthur Nwaubani, expressed happiness over the recognition done to him and his wife, stating that their numerous contributions to the development of the Afarata community, prompted the award.
According to Chief Nwaubani, they have been actively involved in carrying out community projects and as well, giving scholarships to undergraduate students.
He stated categorically that they have been serving their community for the past 25 years.
Nwaubani disclosed that they have put infrastructure in place, started a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), through which they have given out scholarship to students of the area, paid tuition fees, provided learning aids and others.
He said they have kicked off road construction projects in the area and very soon, the wife would be introducing Health Care system for the elderly, a program that is bid to run three times every year. After which, they would embark on electrification project.
Chief Nwaubani further stated that by July this year, they would start up another scholarship program, adding that they would not relent in giving back to their community. “God has blessed us, it is time to give back to our community”, he said.
Interacting with the wife, Dr Uzoma Nwaubani, now Ugwudiya Uzoma Nwaubani, appreciated God for His blessings upon her family, out of which, she said they decided to plough back massively i to their root.
She said she has been married for 25 years now with four lovely kids, adding that it became imperative to begin aggressive community service out of the abundance God has given them.
Ugwudiya Nwaubani further reiterated their commitment to train more students on their scholarship scheme, with the aim of taking them to the zenith of their education, revealing that soon, she would be unveiling an health care program for women and the elderly in the community.
She vowed to put their community on the map of development.
Meanwhile, they congratulated the newly coronated traditional ruler of Afarata, HRM Eze Felix Osquared Onwukwe and wished him many years on the throne.
