Nwagba raises campaign for women participation in governance

The Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic party (SDP), in Abia State, Hon. Blessing Nwagba, has decried the rising level of poverty, youth unemployment and the less opportunities given to women in appointive positions in governance.

Hon Nwagba while briefing newsmen in Umuahia the Abia state capital, during the unveiling of her ‘Total Transformation Plan’ ,revealed that women and youths make up more than 70% of the population, yet there is hardly any of them in governance and this has resulted in the lack of respect for democratic processes and created a vacuum in accountability.

The Law maker who is  representing Aba North in the Abia state House of Assembly, reiterated her commitment to transform the Agricultural sector, create an enabling environment for small businesses to thrive, empower Youths and women to discover their God given talents if given the chance to serve as the governor of Abia State.

Nwagba said women participation in the decision making process is vital and as such, they should be given a chance to contribute their own quota in the nation building.

On that premise, the lawmaker unveiled her plans if elected as Abia number one citizen. According to her, she would eliminate unfair double taxation policies that cripple small businesses, empower the women and youth, as well as exporting Abia to the world.

She,however, disclosed that her transformation plan is centered on three core pillars, Economic revitalization, infrastructural transformation and social development, calling for support.
