NUJ Chairman, Asonye Advocates Better Welfare For Abia Journalists

 

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abia State Council, Comrade Chidi Asonye, has advocated for the improved welfare of Journalists in Abia State.

 

Comrade Asonye who stated this in his new year message, highlighted the importance of the well-being of Journalists in fostering a vibrant press.

 

He underscored the critical need for sustainable collaboration between Journalists and society, emphasizing the media’s pivotal role as a cornerstone of democracy.

Looking towards the future, Asonye envisioned a retrained cadre of journalists by 2025, who will uphold objectivity, investigative rigor, and a high sense of professionalism as the esteemed fourth estate of the realm.

He expressed gratitude for Governor Alex Otti’s Monthly Media chats, which he said would foster transparency and dialogue.

 

Asonye also expressed optimism that the NUJ Secretariat would be completed and handed over to the Council by 2025, along with the acquisition of a new council bus.

 

In a call for unity, Asonye urged members to embrace love, peace, and mutual support, recognizing these as essential pillars for a cohesive and effective journalistic community.
