Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Cooperative Investment and Credit Society has honoured nine retired officers during its 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in the state.
The meeting, which focused on reviewing the cooperative’s progress and future plans, was held under the theme, “Advancing Our Cooperative for a Better Future.”
Speaking at the event, the President of the Cooperative Society, DSC Okpokiri Nnaemeka Solomon, expressed appreciation to the Grand Patron, the Commandant who serves as Patron of the cooperative, members, the Board of Trustees and business partners for their support and commitment to the growth of the society.
He noted that the cooperative had recorded significant growth in both membership and financial strength over the past year.
According to him, as of December 31, 2025, the cooperative’s capital base increased from N114,811,621 to N171,142,129, reflecting improved financial contributions and prudent management of resources.
He also disclosed that membership of the cooperative rose from 403 to 451 within the same period.
A highlight of the meeting was the recognition and presentation of gifts to nine retired officers of the corps in appreciation of their years of dedicated service and contributions to the cooperative society.
The event was attended by the Patron of the Cooperative Society and Commandant of the Corps in Abia State, Commandant Akinsola Aderemi, who was represented by the Deputy Commandant in charge of Administration (2i/c), DCC Damisa Anthony.
In his remarks, the command commended members of the cooperative, its executives and the retired officers for their commitment, cooperation and efforts toward strengthening the society.
He encouraged officers and personnel who are yet to join the cooperative to do so, noting that membership provides financial support and assistance in times of unforeseen challenges.
Delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the 2025 retirees, Mrs. Onyeike Mercy expressed gratitude to the cooperative for the recognition and honour bestowed on them.
She said the retirees were pleased with the gesture, noting that it was meaningful to be celebrated while still alive to appreciate the recognition.
