Abia State Government has said there is no planned reversal on its implementation of a Single Treasury Account (TSA) system earlier scheduled for September 1st 2023.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture Prince Okey Kanu stated this at Government House Umuahia while briefing Journalists on the outcome of this Week’s Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.
Prince Kanu emphasized the significance of the TSA, explaining that it would centralize all government payments through a unified platform, and promote due process and transparency in all financial transactions involving the state government.
He added that preparations are on top gear to ensure a smooth and successful launch of the project.
According to the Information Boss, “The TSA will soon commence on the 1st of Sept, that date is sacrosanct. I want to assure you that all efforts are being directed to ensure that that date remains the same.
“It is one Cardinal aspect of this administration in terms of due process and transparency stance, so come Sept 1st, the single Treasury account will commence and all government payments would be made to pass through a single platform”.
Prince Kanu clarified that the ban on the operation of commercial motorcycles will exclusively affect only the Aba and Umuahia metropolis adding that the step is to further strengthen the security of lives and properties of Abians and cautioned security personnel against exploiting innocent citizens during this period.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Ngozi Felix, disclosed that Abia State would hold the Abia Women August Delegates’ Conference (AWADEC) on Tuesday, 15th August 2023 at the International Conference Centre,
She said that the event initiated to propel ideological shift and capacity development among women in the State would feature, empowerment of 102 women in three categories including; people with disability, indigent and elderly women and disclosed that Abia State would in September this year host gender-based violence sensitisation programme which would involve many stakeholders in the society.
