Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has restated that the ongoing construction of roads across the state by his adminstration is done using tax payers money with no Federal government contribution.
This is coming on the heels of the propaganda by the opposition parties claiming that the state roads built by the present adminstration was done with the Intervention of the Federal government.
Governor Ikpeazu who made this known, Wednesday, during the inspection of some roads in Aba, including Ikot Ekpene Road,Omuma, Immaculate Avenue ABSUTH road, Osisioma Flyover among others which are in continuation of his “Kinetic Abia Project Tour”, said the roads are financed solely by the Abia state government.
While noting that the Ikot Ekpene Road is a federal government road, Ikpeazu said his adminstration embarked on its Construction because of it’s strategic importance to the State adding that the road which traverses Ukpakiri and Alaoji had remained impassable for many years.
He said his administration is committed to opening up roads in the commercial nerve centre of the state to ease traffic and create conducive atmosphere for Trade and Commerce to thrive and pointed out that the essence of being in governance is to attract dividends of democracy to the people.
He said that before now, there was no access to major markets across the state noting that the roads when completed will serve as links to major markets across the state.
The Governor assured that he will facilitate the delivery of all roads embarked by his adminstration before the rainy season sets in fully.
Inspecting the Osisioma Flyover, Governor Ikpeazu commended Aba residents for their patience despite the inconveniences experienced and assured that “between now and six weeks the Flyover will be asphalted.
According to the Governor, his adminstration is committed to delivering the best to the people in terms of road infrastructure adding that the use of Cement Pavement Technology was deployed by his administration to ensure longevity of the roads constructed.
Governor Ikpeazu who also inspected the progress of work at the Nwaobasi Estate Road Off Ehere,Ogbor Hill, said that the road will be done with double drainages as well as Street lights, assuring that it would be commissioned soon.
Inspecting the ongoing construction of Omuma Road, Governor Ikpeazu noted that when completed, residents will seamlessly access the Ariaria and Cemetery road markets with ease.
Other areas inspected by the governor include the Ngwa Road/Good morning Market/ Emelogu street where he urged the contractor handling the Ngwa road bridge to spare no cost in ensuring the correction of mistakes that were made during it’s construction many years ago.
“This bridge is quite strategic especially now that we are doing Ngwa road. For Ngwa road to be of economic value and for us to be able to harness the full potential of that project, we will need this bridge to be functional”, Ikpeazu said.
On the upcoming bye election for the Aba north and south federal constituency, the governor urged Aba residents to come out enmasse and vote for the PDP candidate, Mr Chimaobi Ebisike assuring that he will offer quality Representation for the people.
The Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu as well as PDP Stakeholders in the area accompanied the Governor during the inspection tour.
