NNPP Defection To Labou
The recent defection of Dr. Ukpai Iro Ukpai, the 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the NNPP, along with the party’s structure, to the Labour Party has been hailed as a significant moment in the party’s history.
A Stakeholder and Director of Works, Labour party, Mr Ikechukwu Oti who stated this while reacting to the development in Umuehim-Nvosi, Isialangwa South LGA, described the defection as proof that Governor Alex Otti is on a mission to create real change in the state.
Mr Oti while applauding Governor Otti’s infrastructural revolution and focus on human capital development, emphasized that the Governor has redefined the concept of governance in Abia State.
“Move around Aba you will see his infrastructural footprints.
“For instance, the long abandoned 41.1kilometer Ohafia- Arochukwu Federal road was recently flagged off for reconstruction by Governor Alex Otti not minding other ongoing road projects such as the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Isuikwuato -Abiriba-Ohafia road earlier flagged off“, Mr Otti pointed out.
While also describing the Labour Party as a formidable force, Mr. Oti expressed optimism that more opposition parties would join Labour’ Party’s rebuilding agenda.
“I am not surprised with the movement of members of the opposition party into Labour party, it’s an indication that His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti OFR , our indefatigable Governor is doing well.
“People think that Labour party is in crisis, no. Let me inform them that what we are going through now is a step that will further strengthen our party for future victories.
“Our leaders including His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi and Our action Governor, His Excellency Dr Alex Otti are men of honour and so far they have shown capacity and commitment in giving our party the needed direction. This accounts to the reason people are now rushing into the party“, Mr Oti noted.
He described opposition party and criticism as the beauty of democracy, urged the opposition to criticize constructively and strive to key into the new Abia project being championed by Governor Alex Otti.
He acknowledged the role of opposition and criticism as the beauty of a thriving democracy and called for constructive engagement from other parties as well as support for Governor Otti’s transformative agenda for Abia State.
