NMGS Lauds Eno, Seeks Mining Sector Collaboration

Members of Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) have commended the Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for his commitments in driving tourism sector in the state.

They also urged him to sustain the engagement of professionals in the mining and geosciences sector saying such move would ensure that ongoing and future projects meet international standards.

The Society stated this during an inspection of the Arise Palm Resort over the weekend at the end of their 61st Annual conference and Exhibition held in Uyo, the state capital.

Harping on the need to move towards harnessing solid minerals, the society commended Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to diversifying the state’s economy through strategic investments in tourism and non oil sector.

They expressed confidence that with sustained commitment, Akwa Ibom State would emerge as a leading hub for tourism and investment in Nigeria.

Speaking while conducting the team round the park, Mrs. Emaekop Eduok, an Assistant Chief Geologist, Ministry of Works, on behalf of the Society described the Arise Palm Resort as a project that reflects a forward thinking approach to harnessing natural and environmental assets for sustainable economic growth.

“I am proud of being an Akwa Ibomite, many people across the country is here and very excited about this development.

“Akwa Ibom is the Land of fulfillment not just promising because all the Governor has done is fulfill all his promises and more.” She said.

The members of the team were taken round the park, the playground and the sports facilities, the Guest apartments and lazy lake where the took a boat ride before relaxing on the floating bar, an experience most of them promised would be repeated once the park is fully opened.
