Nigerian President to Inaugurate 1.2km Kaa-Ataba Bridge in Rivers State

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced that Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will officially inaugurate the 1.2-kilometre Kaa-Ataba Bridge in Rivers State as part of activities to mark his third anniversary in office. The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, made this known during an inspection visit to the project by members of the Commission’s Governing Board. The visit was led by the Board Chairman, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, who joined other officials to assess the progress of the work.

The Kaa-Ataba Bridge is an important infrastructure project that connects Khana Local Government Area and Andoni Local Government Area in Rivers State. When completed, it will make movement between the two communities easier and faster for residents, traders, and travellers. The bridge is regarded as the longest in the Niger Delta region and one of the longest in Nigeria. According to Dr. Ogbuku, the construction work is progressing steadily and the project will be completed as planned, in line with the administration’s development plans under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

During the inspection tour, the NDDC team also visited the site of the Niger Delta Regional Hospital project in Port Harcourt. The hospital is designed as a modern medical facility that will include specialized units such as cardiovascular and orthopaedic departments. The Commission explained that the project is aimed at improving access to quality healthcare in the Niger Delta region.

The NDDC believes that when the hospital is completed, it will help reduce the number of Nigerians who travel abroad for medical treatment. Speaking during the visit, Mr. Chiedu Ebie stressed that strengthening the healthcare system is very important for the wellbeing of people in Nigeria, especially those living in the Niger Delta. He added that the hospital will provide advanced medical services and create opportunities for better healthcare delivery in the region.
