A woman entrepreneurial and inspirational speaker, Mrs Angela Nwogwugwu has said that Nigerian women cannot afford to lag behind in the exploits been made by women globally.
According to her, with the modern trend of things in the world, days are gone when women willfully restrict themselves to housewives.
Mrs Nwaogwugwu who is the Local Content Manager of 50 million African Women Speak Out Project stated this at a conference in Kolping Society, Umuahia, Abia State during the group’s capacity building, sensitization and mobilization workshop and mini exhibition, pointed out that women are doing great exploits across the globe and African Women nay Nigeria women should not be left behind in this aspect of entrpreneurial class.
She pointed out that the project which has ECOWAS nod was designed to encourage and train women in Nigeria to be able to sell and market their produce and give women recognition, so that they would be able to teach, learn, master, protect, practice their skills and talents from zero level to international level.
Represented by Mrs. Phoebe Nwaorgu, Southeast regional coordinator stated that they want to develop women to become entrepreneurs by exposing them to all they need to know in order to measure up with others across the globe.
She stressed the need for women to come out from their shell, be equipped with good handset as to get connected online in order to compete favourably with other women outside Africa as the 50 million African Women Speak Out Project was designed to equip women into greatness.
Earlier in her speech, the Abia State coordinator of the project, Dr. Mrs. Grace Chiboagui Okaro harped on the need for women to be united in order to get facilities needed for them to measure up in the world of entrepreneurial skills.
She revealed that the project was conceived to empower women through business development trainings, networking, facilitating access to financial & non-financial information through the use of online platforms which according to her have been put in place to reduce the burdens on women entrepreneurs.
Okaro advised Nigerian particularly Abia women to cue into the project as to benefit from the enormous opportunities inherent in the organisation and challenged them to be diligent in all their undertakings as that offers them the gateway to the opportunities in the project.
The representative of Nigeria Export Promotion Council, NEPC Aba Smart office, Mrs. Roselyn Ekanem delivered a lecture entitled “Development of Women Entrepreneurship Through Export Business”, while representatives of Corporate Affairs Commission, (CAC), National Food and Drugs Administration Control (NAFDAC) and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Development Agency, (SMEDAN) also delivered lectures during the event.
The Umuahia zonal leader of the project, Mrs. Chidinma Nwakuba among others participated in the event.
