All is now set for Team Abia to depart Umuahia today for Uyo the capital of Akwa Ibom State where the maiden edition of the Niger Delta Sports Festival will be taking place.
The contingent comprises of 301 athletes, 56 technical officials and 12 state officials.
Team Abia will participate in 17 sports namely: Football, athletics, table tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, traditional wrestling and para-athletics.

Others are powerlifting, tennis, handball, volleyball, basketball, chess, scabble, swimming, canoeing and boxing.
The opening ceremony will hold tomorrow at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium and the games will last till April 9. About 3,000 athletes from Niger Delta states are expected to take part in the games.
