In a joint initiative, the Global Entrepreneurship City Limited and the United Mission for Rural and Urban Community Empowerment, in partnership with the Liberation Movement for Good Governance, have launched the Green City Project, also known as Empowering African Communities.

This initiative aims to promote eco-friendly living and enhance local agricultural productivity in rural areas, contributing to sustainable growth. It also seeks to improve the health of individuals who have long suffered from environmental pollution and land degradation.

Speaking at the Empowering African Communities Summit, which marked the official launch of the Green City Projects at the Atrium Event Center in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Dr. Fabeke Douglas, National Coordinator of the United Mission for Rural and Urban Community Empowerment, explained that the Green City Project would introduce cutting-edge innovations to the Niger Delta, including fuel-less motorcycles, solar-powered generators, water pumps, fans, and batteries.

This initiative, spearheaded by Dr. Fabeke and his international partners, aims to restore eco-friendly environments and drive economic empowerment by establishing the first smart city in the Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Dr. Fabeke emphasized that the Green City Project is not just an infrastructure development but a broader movement designed to transform rural communities in Rivers State and the wider Niger Delta into models of sustainable development, ecological restoration, and job creation.

Dr. Muhammad Mubarique, a Turkey-based entrepreneur, delivered the keynote speech, stressing the importance of Africa embracing entrepreneurship and sustainable agricultural practices to tackle food insecurity. He pointed out that Africa holds significant potential to become the world’s leading food producer through innovative agricultural initiatives.
