NDDC Unveils Performance Management System to Boost Efficiency

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has introduced a new Performance Management System (PMS) to improve staff productivity and ensure better service delivery.

The Managing Director of the commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, spoke about the new system during a two-day retreat held at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt. He said the initiative is important for achieving development goals in the region.

According to him, the new PMS replaces the old Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER). The system is based on the Balanced Scorecard approach, which measures both organisational and individual performance.

Dr. Ogbuku explained that staff promotions will now be based on performance. He also advised employees to improve their computer skills and adapt to the new system.

He further revealed that the commission plans to fully automate its operations by March. Training and support systems have also been put in place to help staff adjust smoothly.

A consultant to the commission, Dr. (Mrs) Offiong Achibong, also explained some key features of the system. These include regular performance evaluations, clear goal setting, and promotions based on staff performance, all aimed at encouraging excellence and rewarding hard work.
