NAWOJ FCT, VNDC Partner on Marketplace Health Advocacy

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has sealed a partnership with the Vaccine Network for Disease Control (VNDC) to promote women’s rights and public health awareness through a marketplace advocacy initiative in Abuja.

The development was disclosed by the Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT, Bassey Ita Ikpang, during a courtesy visit to the Executive Director of VNDC, Chika Offor.

Speaking during the meeting, Ikpang reaffirmed the association’s commitment to advancing gender equity and amplifying women’s voices through media-driven advocacy. She noted that NAWOJ remains focused on issues affecting women and children, particularly in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment.

Ikpang also commended Dr. Offor for her contributions to strengthening vaccine awareness and public health systems, noting that her leadership has helped protect vulnerable populations.

According to her, the proposed partnership will engage women in marketplaces across the FCT, combining awareness on social, economic, and democratic rights with essential health education. The initiative will also address misinformation and misconceptions surrounding vaccine uptake and other critical health issues.

She described the marketplace advocacy initiative as innovative and encouraged women to adopt progressive approaches that promote the wellbeing of their families and communities.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment by both organisations to improve community health and empower women through sustained grassroots engagement.
