National cash transfer: Mrs Nkechi appeals to field officers

The wife of Abia State Governor Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu has appealed to field officers trained by the Abia State Cash Transfer Unit to ensure transparency programme so as to get those targeted in the ongoing National cash transfer programme enlisted.

The Governor’s wife made the appeal at the two days step down training and enrollment of Cash Transfer Facilitators at Bishop Nwedo Memorial Centre in Umuahia, Abia State.
According to her, “Abia State government led by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is working hard to reduce the burden of unemployment and poverty in the State, so I charge the field officers being trained today to ensure that those this programme is made for get captured especially the rural poor “.

She assured that the State government is doing everything possible to see that the programme comes to fruition.
In her address, the National Coordinator of the programme, Dr. Mrs. Tope Sinkaye said that the programme is mainly targeted at the poorest of the poor to reduce the poverty rate of Nigeria.
She expressed that every month about 4.5 million Nigerians are entering into poverty hence the social investment programme were designed by the federal government to bring Nigeria out of the poverty line of the world.

According to her, “this is the only programme that is focusing on the poor for a support out of the poverty line so I thank the government of Abia State to be among the states that that domesticate this programme.

Earlier, the state focal person of the programme, Mr. Chinenye Nwogu said that Gov. Ikpeazu has made it a policy of the state to domesticate every social investment programmes announced by the federal government and that this is a show of quality leadership that improves the lives of people.

However, the Head Cash Transfer Unit, Mr. Okeziem Nwoko, stated that the two days step down programme is basically to train the cash transfer facilitators to go into the field and capture appropriately those that would become beneficiaries of the National Cash Transfer Programme.
