NAS Takes Menstrual Hygiene Campaign To Bayelsa Community

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS) also known as Pyrate Confraternity had marked the 2024 International Women’s Day with a Female hygiene campaign to the Tungbo Community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The Menstrual Hygiene and Economic Empowerment by NAS, Oxbow Marino Deck, was carried out in collaboration with the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day with the theme “Empower Her”.

The Representative of the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation, Mr. Timiebi Binafeigha emphasized his late father’s belief in the education and empowerment of the girl child. Also expressed the importance to continue with his father’s legacy through such humanitarian efforts.

Also speaking, Mr. Tim Egboneje, who represented the National Association of Seadogs Oxbow Marino Deck, underlined the significance of educating girls positively which impacts an entire community. Also, encouraged the women in attendance to recognize their importance in every aspect of life.

Earlier speaking, Princess Ebikiemo conducted an advocacy session on menstrual hygiene, focusing on the importance of proper hygiene practices and providing valuable information to women.

In addition, Zebedee Loveday conducted an advocacy session on women empowerment, highlighting the significance of enabling women to reach their full potential in all spheres of life.

One of the highlights of the event was the donation of menstrual pads to over 300 women and girls in the Tungbo Community. This gesture was a thoughtful contribution which improved their hygiene and overall well-being.

On behalf of the Tungbo Community, the Committee Development Chairman, Mr. Sheque Lokoja, expressed his gratitude to the National Association of Seadogs Oxbow Marino Deck and the Late Chief Egberi Binafeigha Foundation for their kind gesture. He also appealed for the continuation of similar activities in their community, acknowledging the positive impact they have on the livelihoods of the women and girls of Tungbo.
