The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, has embarked on a two weeks warning strike.
In the letter jointly signed by the branch chairman NAAT MOUAU, Comrade Ifeanyi K. Nwaji and the Secretary, Comrade Ifenkwe Clement E. and made available to National Ambassador, reads thus:
“Sequel to the resolution reached after the emergency virtual National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of NAAT, held on Thursday 17th March 2022, we wish to convey to you that NEC in-session has directed that all members of NAAT proceed on a two weeks warning strike. This is to take effect from midnight of Monday, 21st March 2022”.

This, they said was to protest Federal Government (FG) failure to address NAAT grievances as contained in her letter sent to FG on 14 days ultimatum.
Earlier, the NAAT President, Ibeji Nwokoma, in a statement, alleged that the warning strike was as a result of the failure of the Federal Government to implement a 2009 agreement.
He urged members of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) to start a two-week warning strike from today (Monday).
According to the statement, the commencement of the two-week strike followed the end of the 14-day ultimatum given to the government.
He explained that all laboratories, workshops, studios and farms, for the period of the warning strike, would be shut down following the resolution during a virtual meeting of the association’s National Executive Council.
According to Ibeji Nwokoma, 97.8 per cent of the branches of the association voted in favour of the industrial action.
He explained, “In the meantime, branches are also directed to hold congresses on Monday, 21st March, 2022, in the morning, to declare the commencement of the warning strike in their respective branches.”
