Mysterious Death of Mohbad Sparks Investigation as Body is Exhumed

The Nigeria Police Force has officially confirmed the exhumation of the body of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, as investigations into his untimely demise continue to unravel the mysteries surrounding the tragic incident.

Mohbad, a 27-year-old rising star in the Nigerian music industry, tragically passed away on September 12, 2023. The circumstances surrounding his death have sparked widespread controversy and concern, with many demanding answers regarding the cause of his demise.

In a recent statement issued on the X app, the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed that the process of exhumation had been completed, paving the way for an autopsy to commence. This development follows an earlier statement by the Lagos State Police Command, which expressed the intention to exhume Mohbad’s body for an autopsy if deemed necessary to aid the ongoing investigation.

He quoted the Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, saying, “Investigation will commence, and that’s what we’re going to do. If need be, the body will be exhumed.”

Hundeyin further emphasized the importance of cooperation from the public, stating, “People should bring whatever information they have to the commissioner of police in Lagos State. It doesn’t matter where; we’re going to harmonize it within ourselves and ensure that justice is done.”

This development comes on the heels of revelations that Mohbad had submitted a petition to the Nigeria Police Force, citing multiple threats to his life, including alleged harassment by socialite Samson Balogun, also known as Sam Larry, among others. The petition, which surfaced online, detailed instances of assault, malicious damage to property, and threats to his life.

In a video circulating on social media, Mohbad and fellow artist Zlatan Ibile were seen on set for a music video when Sam Larry and his associates reportedly disrupted the scene, targeting the late singer. This video has led to widespread calls for the arrest of Sam Larry and Mohbad’s former label boss, Naira Marley, to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise.

In response to the mounting pressure, Sam Larry, believed to be an ally of Naira Marley, deactivated his Instagram account due to the barrage of cyberattacks following the video’s release.

Mohbad’s petition was directed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos. In the petition, the late singer implored the police to intervene and ensure his safety, recounting how he was assaulted during a music video shoot and revealing that the assailants claimed to be acting on behalf of Oba Elegushi.
