As Eid el Kabir celebration continues today, head of Islamic Clerics in Rivers State Alh Haliru Imam Kasim has called on Muslims faithful to use this years Eid el Kabir to reflect on the sacrificial lifestyle of prophet Mohammed.
Imam Kasim told our reporter that Muslims are expected to show love among themselves, the needy and the less privileged.
” this day is a day of joy, celebration, forgiveness and give and take. My expectations is that people should celebrate the Sallah peacefully. We learnt to emulate the teachings of prophet Mohammed, which is peace, unity and stability. I urged all Muslims to visit each other, give to charity and also give to those who don’t have ”
Arewa Consultative Forum in Rivers State has urged Muslims in Rivers State to imbibe the attitude of personal and collective sacrifice that would bring about National Development.
Spokesman of the forum Babagiya Tanko spoke to our reporter shortly after the Eid el Kabir prayer at Gambia street, Mile one. He also encouraged Rivers people across all faith to tolerate each other and pray for the progress of the State.
” this year’s Sallah celebration is very okey. If you can see our people, everybody is celebrating at normal. The message I have for my people is that they should take it easy. I can see some people are using bike and vehicles to be displaying on the road, which is not good for us. It can cause accident. We should celebrate peacefully ”
Babagiya Tanko also called for tolerance among the religious group, and urge Muslims to use this Eid el Kabir period to pray for the country and leaders.
” Nigerians, especially those of faith, Muslims and Christians should tolerate one another. You will see one Christian group will say this, another Muslim group will counter. And I see that we can not continue like this. We must come together and learn to live in peace and harmony as Nigerians ” he stated.
He also commended heads of security agencies for massive deployment of its personnel across various Eidia Kabir prayer grounds yesterday.
As you may know, Muslim faithfuls in Rivers State yesterday had prayers in open places to mark this year’s Eid el Kabir. Prayers were held in places like ADP camp, Rumuodumaya, behind Comprehensive Secondary School Rumuosi, Gambia Street Mile One, Bori Camp, Uniport Arena, among others.
