Mrs. Otti to partner with Unicef on poverty alleviation.

Abia State Governor’s wife Mrs. Priscilla Otti, says the administration of Gov. Otti is working tirelessly to uplift the vulnerable and reduce poverty in the state.

Mrs. Otti said, the government is working to alleviate poverty by creating the enabling environment for businesses to grow, generate employment and improve the quality of lives of its indigenes.

Mrs. Otti who addressed a delegation of the UNICEF who visited her recently in her government house office in Umuahia the state capital, said that Abia state government would do whatever that is required from her to see that Unicef programmes in the state are successful especially in those areas that concerns women and children.

She described Unicef as a development partners who have come to help Abia realise it’s goals in poverty alleviation.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Unicef field officer in charge of Enugu zone, Mrs. Juliet Chiluwe said that they came to update the wife of the Governor of their programmes and possible areas of collaboration to help Abia achieve its target in human capacity development.

“We have recognised the commitment which Abia state has shown towards social protection of women and children, so we are here to bring you to speed on some of the matching grant which the state can assess to achieve its goals” Chiluwe said.

However, the commissioner for women affairs and poverty alleviation, Mrs. Ngozi Felix said that Abia is open to Unicef partnership because the administration of Gov. Otti is committed to the welfare of women and children in the state.
