Mrs. Otti Pledges Support to FIDA in the Fight against Gender Based Violence

The Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has expressed her willingness to partner with Federacion Internacionale De Abogadas(FIDA) to end gender based violence and to improve lives of the vulnerable in the state.

 

Mrs. Otti stated this when the team from FIDA paid her a courtesy visit in her Government House Office in Umuahia today.

 

Mrs. Otti praised the efforts of FIDA in the fight to end violence in the society, upholding the rights of women and the girl child and seeking justice for the vulnerable in the society.

The Governor’s wife however expressed shock that FIDA did not have a functional office in the state to operate from.

 

She promised to relay all the challenges of the association to the Governor who will look into it and support them.

She maintained that while the administration of Governor Alex Otti is not relenting in building strong institutions for the state to tackle its myriad of challenges, she will play a complementary role to ensure that all would be carried along to achieve the Abia of our dream.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Barrister Akudo Amanamba said that FIDA is playing a pivotal role not only to end gender based violence but also seek justice to ensure that the right of women, the girl child and the vulnerable are protected and not violated.

 

She called for support in the area of establishing its own office, employment of clerical office assistant and vehicles for ease of movement and optimum performance of their duties to the state.
