Mrs. Otti Marks Carol Of Nine Lessons with Students of School for the Blind, Reiterates Government Support

The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has commended the display of talents and commitment of the students from the School of the Blind towards improving their lives despite their challenges.

 

The Governor’s wife made the commendation when she attended the carol of nine lessons organised by the management of the school at its school premises, Afara Ukwu in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State to acknowledge this year’s Christmas celebration.

 

She expressed that Christmas is a time to come together, to share love and laughter, and to cherish the beauty of our diversity.

 

According to her, “I stand here among you today to let you know that you are seen, valued, and loved.

Each of you possesses extraordinary talents, and today is a celebration of those gifts that make you shine brightly”

“Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Alex Otti, our government is resolutely committed to ensuring the well-being and inclusion of all community members.

Institutions like the School of the Blind play a pivotal role in providing education, fostering independence, and creating opportunities for these children to excel” she said.

 

The Governor’s wife also reveals that Gov. Otti has pledged increased attention to the challenges faced by this institution, as well as calling on the need for collaboration between the government and philanthropic individuals to create an optimal learning environment for you.

 

The government’s dedication to supporting initiatives benefiting individuals with special needs is evident as we recently celebrated the White Cane and Safety Day, where we distributed white canes and empowered some visually impaired individuals, reinforcing our commitment to their support.

However, the Governor has also integrated Abians with special needs into his administration, showcasing a sincere commitment to the inclusivity of all Abians.

 

Meanwhile, Mrs. Otti made cash donations with foodstuffs adding that she came to show compassion and solidarity to the students but ended up greatly inspired by the display of abilities in their disability”.

 

In his remarks, the chairman on the occasion, Deacon. Mike Okoro who was represented by Head of station Ziks FM radio Umuahia said that Carol of Nine Lessons as celebrated this time world over, is a period Christians remember the birth of Jesus Christ as the saviour of the world.

 

Earlier, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Onyeogaziri N Blessing explained that the school is a rehabilitation centre for the blind where they learn braille writing, computer, crafts and other subjects as the state curriculum provides.

She thanked the Governor’s wife for coming to mark the occasion with them adding that the state government is trying in their support to the school but called for more support so that the school can meet up its challenges.
