Mrs. Otti launch pet project, empower 54 Abia women

As pact of an effort to support and transform the economy of Abia women and youths, the wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Otti has launched her foundation ‘Safe Tent Care Foundation’ to oversee all her pet projects in the State.

The foundation through partnership with Vivdak Catering and Event Institute, trained and empowered 54, Abia women and youths in the area of catering, pastry, food production and decoration.

Presenting the starter packs of oven, gas cylinder, 1 bag of floor, 5, litre of vegetable oil and a seed grant of #200, 000 each to the first cohort of graduands of the skill up Abia women at the Aba Sports Club Complex today, Mrs. Otti said, in today’s competitive world, upskilling and empowerment are not luxuries; they are necessities.

For our young women these skills open the doors to dignity, financial independence, and the ability to avoid the vulnerabilities that you might otherwise face as you journey into the business world.

Mrs. Otti also explained that the Safe Tent Care Initiative is her humanitarian pet project based in Abia State.

It exists to provide safe and supportive spaces for the underprivileged especially women, girls, and children to gain the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to thrive.

Our work spans skill acquisition, economic empowerment, education, healthcare, children’s wellbeing, nutrition, immunisation, psychosocial support, and advocacy for rights and equality.

“At the heart of the Safe Tent Care Initiative is a commitment to helping vulnerable people live healthy, independent, and fulfillment of their lives” Mrs. Otti further stated.

Mrs. Vivian Obilor, the CEO, of Vivdak Catering and Event Institute, said that the skill up Abia women project is a good way of establishing women in business to fight poverty.

She appeals to all and sundry to patronize the graduands in order to stay afloat in their businesses.

In their good will messages the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Maureen Aghukwa, who spoke on behalf of other commissioners said that the great investment made in the live of the 54, graduands of the skill up Abia women will lift the families out of poverty and at the same time impacts on Abia economy.

One of the graduands, Miss. Ihuoma Ananaba, who spoke to National Ambassador Newspaper could not hide her joy.

She appreciates the wife of the Governor for exercising her compassion in training and empowering them to become business owners.

Meanwhile, donations were made by Abia business leaders and some government functionaries in support of Mrs. Otti and her pet projects.
