Mrs. Otti, ASMATA liase to eliminate challenges in Abia markets

7ASMATA MEMBERS DURING VISIT

Members of Abia State Markets and Amalgamated Traders Association(ASMATA) today paid a courtesy visit to the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, at her country home of Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.

The leader of the association, Mrs. Nkechi Ezinne, said that they came to show their support and solidarity to Governor Alex Otti’s administration based on the developmental progress it has achieved since taking office.

Mrs. Nkechi said that the association is not ignorant of the giant strides Gov. Otti has achieved thus far especially in Aba, the commercial hub of the state.

“We have seen road construction and the improvement of existing roads, renovation of our markets, payment of workers’ salaries, support for business expansion, training, and a loan program for small business owners,”

However, Mrs. Nkechi, mentioned their challenges in the markets to includes lack of reticulated water boreholes, toilet facilities and solicits the help of the wife of the Governor to provide these facilities in the market places to avoid outbreak of diseases.

In her response, the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti commended the women for forming such a formidable group to identify with Governor Otti.

She stated that the time has passed when women were pushed to the background, adding that Governor Otti has demonstrated his commitment to empowering women by appointing them to important positions in his administration.

She also assured that he will address the challenges faced by women and work towards resolving them.

According to her, “on my own, while we have provided support to families and petty traders through the Renewed Hope Initiative programmes, I assure you that everything that is meant for you will surely get to you”.

“The state government, through the ministry of women affairs, is working diligently to ensure that women are included and involved as we progress in building the Abia of our dreams,” she further stated.
