Mrs Odikwa charges Abia women

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State on Women Mobilisation, Mrs. Beauty Odikwa, has called on Abia women to tap into the numerous programmes the wife of Abia Governor Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu is providing through the Vicar Hope Foundation  to become economically viable within the family and the state.

Speaking with National Ambassador recently at her Government House office in Umuahia, Mrs. Odikwa explains that the Governor’s wife’s passion to carry Abia  women, the youths and the girl child along led her to established the Vicar Hope Foundation through which many lives had been touched for better.

She further noted that the Foundation’s Springboards skills acquisition programme has trained and empowered many Abia women in various ways to become financially independent and also creating jobs for the youths who are becoming small scale business leaders and economic players on their own Sovereign within the state.

Odikwa revealed that the Governor’s wife has also reached out to other non-profit organizations, the civil society groups, in partnership to campaign for total eradication of sickle cell disease in the country and equally walked the talk by establishing two well equipped sickle cell centres in Aba and Umuahia, the state capital to care for those affected by the anemia.

According to her, “the Abia First Lady’s programmes in terms of financing family enhancement seminars, youths sensitization, campaigns on diabetes, child abuse, cancer and lots more are second to none, not forgetting the free school meals, the indigent women housing projects which were revolutionary in  their conception and the beauty of all these achievements is the humility with which she has made the office of the wife of the Governor to be accessible to all Abians “.

However, Mrs. Odikwa maintained that for someone like the wife of Abia Governor who without any budget to her office but playing a complimentary role to achieve  these things means that she is committed not to see Abia women and the youths to be indolent but to explore opportunities of good governance as made available by this administration.

She urged who have not benefited to be patient as the Governor’s  second term would be better for all.
