Mrs Ikpeazu commissions Primary Health Centre at Umuobiakwa

In an effort to get the primary health care centres in Abia State back to its feet again and to operate at full capacity to serve essentially the rural dwellers, the wife of Abia State Governor Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu has again commissioned another Primary Health Centre at Umuobiakwa in Obingwa Local Government Area of the State built by the Abia State Community and Social Development Project.
At the commissioning, the Governor’s wife said that it is a good thing that the Governor is revamping our health centres to function at optimum with facilities for quick service delivery installed in them.
According to her, “we are happy that this projects are cited and completed in our communities, it would go a long way to shorten the distance of seeking health services in the urban areas”.
However, the Governor’s wife advised the community women to ensure judicious use of the facilities provided in the health centre to better their health.
Also speaking, the Programme Manager, Abia CSDP, Dr. Chinatu Njoku, said that the project was conceived and implemented by the community.
They applied for assistance to CSDP and we have come to complete what they applied for.
Njoku explained that CSDP is a state government project funded by the Governor and we are here to attest that the agency has been receiving massive support from Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu since he assumed office.
Contributing, the Transitional Committee Chairman of the Council, Mr. Chidiebere Ihenyeremmadu, stated that the council will do everything to sustain and protect the health centre from vandals and thanked the Governor and his wife for their interest in the health of Abians.
In his remarks, the Chairman Inaugural Committee of the Project, Mr. Nwogu Ogunta, noted that the benefits of the project are enormous for our women and children and the men are not left out.
According to him, “Today history has been made that the Governor through CSDP has given Umuobiakwa Community a befitting health centre.
Meanwhile, one woman from the community, Mrs. Izudinma Udo who spoke with National Ambassador revealed that the health centre would be of immense benefit to the community adding that with the health centre now within their reach itheir will be no need of going to the urban area seeking medical assistance when same is obtainable here in the community.
